man-db is a collection of tools for using the online manuals. man-db uses

a Berkeley DB database instead of the traditional flat-text whatis
|
|
databases. It includes:
|
|
|
|
apropos - search the manual page names and descriptions
|
|
catman - create or update the pre-formatted manual pages
|
|
man - an interface to the on-line reference manuals
|
|
mandb - create or update the manual page index caches
|
|
manpath - determine search path for manual pages
|
|
whatis - search the manual page names
|
|
zsoelim - satisfy .so requests in roff input
|
|
|
|
